Over the summer I didn’t have a job because I was very busy with dance, traveling and visiting my family. I traveled to Seattle, Washington and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I participated in dance at a local studio and also observed a class at the Coeur d’Alene School of Ballet.I also practiced with the rest of the Silver Stars Dance Team.Towards the end of the summer I helped out with the MCMS cheer camp, along with my two best friends, Callie Henning and Jillian Mullin. To prepare for this school year, I kept up on some summer reading and math skills, although I didn’t have anything requires to be complete before school started. I went school shopping and checked out the Mill Valley website occasionally to keep updated. I also went to dance camp for Silver
Stars.Going into this year, I was a little bit nervous the week before school started, but once I went to the school the weekend before school started I was very excited. When I went to the school with my mom, I put some supplies in my locker and found where my classes were. By the first day, I was really excited to start high school. On the first day, mom and dad dropped me off at school around 7 o’clock because I, along with the rest of the dance team, had to perform at freshmen orientation. One of the biggest differences that I noticed on the first day was that you have so much more freedom, which means more responsibility. When you get there first thing in the morning, you can go to your lockers and walk around.During passing periods there aren’t any teachers standing in the halls reminding you to get to class on time or reminding you to bring things. You have to do it all on your own. Another difference is when teachers assign homework; they will only tell you the assignment a couple times. You have to write everything down so you don’t forget what your homework is because it’s very easy to get behind. So far, high school is a lot of fun and I can tell I am going to enjoy the next four years.
